This study examined Major League Baseball and Minor League Baseball athletes and the lack of post-career initiatives in their autonomous organizations to help them transition after their careers. MLB organizations have emphasized leadership and talent development; however, discovering the same passion for a new career can be challenging when MLB and MiLB athletes leave their sport. Additionally, although professional baseball players follow a disciplined lifestyle to train and perform, they often struggle to plan for life after their sport and often learn the hard way that sports are a business. This study's findings will help retired athletes adjust to civilian life. The findings include a player's perspective on the importance of guidance and post-career leadership development. Additionally, the lack of knowledge of programs offered by MLB is a disadvantage for post-career success is included. The benefits of embedded psychotherapy and available financial, educational, and leadership professionals both during and after their playing careers have ended also discussed.
