Case conceptualization is central to ethical and evidence-based therapeutic care (Abbas et al., 2012; Ellis et al., 2013; Hass et al., 2021; Sperry & Sperry, 2012; Sperry, 2016). Notwithstanding, case conceptualizations have variable reliability and quality amongst licensed mental health professionals, likely due to a lack of unified definition, framework, or process of case conceptualization (Flinn et al., 2015). More worrisome, case conceptualization seems largely inaccessible to master-level students, as a consequence of paucity in scaffolded models and teaching methods (Dudley et al., 2010; Kuyken et al., 2005; Ladany et al., 2001; Lee & Tracey, 2008; Persons & Bertagnolli, 1999). The purpose of this dissertation project is to directly address this case conceptualization gap through the presentation of a novel integrative case conceptualization model for the unique developmental needs of master-level students. To inform the creation of the model and its use as a pedogeological tool, an extensive and detailed review of the literature is presented. Accordingly, this dissertation also presents the developed integrative case conceptualization model, and written formulation structure. To demonstrate the applicability of this model in teaching practice, an introductory case conceptualization workshop geared to students in a Master of Arts in Clinical Psychology with Emphasis in Marriage and Family Therapy program. is also presented. Plans for a future expanded pedagogy, methods for future evaluation and critiques of the model are also addressed. Proposed implications of the presented model include equipping master-level students and trainees with emerging skills in case conceptualization for informing treatment and intervention.
