In the west we find ourselves living in a technological consumer culture, where the act of seeking an intimate relationship is only a click away. Living in a globalized world, the commodification of intimacy is supported as international online dating agencies (re)present 'Third World' women's bodies as acquired goods met through the demands of western men. Modern society creates perpetual desire(s), and the act of seeking a commodified intimate may very well provide a sense of security within our own unpredictable environment(s). Through the analysis of numerous international dating websites, it is possible to see the ways in which agencies rely on the images and narratives of women to advertise a market founded upon the commodification of intimacy. Exchanging ideas that are predicated upon empowerment, we must dialogue to learn more about immigrant and refugee women who are targeted as intimate commodities.
