The financial performance of organizations is crucial to their success, and many companies struggle to achieve desired results. This study investigates the relationship between leadership styles and information system profiles and their impact on financial performance in the US banking industry during the COVID-19 pandemic. To address research questions, the study uses a sample of 60 banks registered in NASDAQ with full financial data available for the past 5 years. The study employs three research tools: Multifactor Leadership Questionnaire (MLQ) developed by Bass and Avolio (2004), Information System Questionnaire based on Trippi and Salameh's (1989) framework and relevant studies, and DuPont equation (Brown, 1912). Results of the research suggest that there is a moderate to strong relationship between these variables. Information system profiles have the strongest positive relationship with a company's financial performance, followed by the transformational leadership style. In contrast, both transactional leadership styles and passive avoidant behavior have a rather negative impact for the selected banking industry sample during the turbulent times of the COVID-19 pandemic. The study identifies a gap in the literature and adds new value to the body of knowledge by making a bridge between information system profiles, leadership styles, and financial performance. The findings have several practical implications, among which there is presenting banking executives with the information system profiles and leadership styles needed for achieving higher financial performance results and for future preparation and mitigating possible outcomes of turbulent environments.
