This generic qualitative inquiry aimed to investigate licensed professional counselors' perceptions of their learning acquisition of disability culture based on their masters' level education. The research literature on multicultural competencies of counselors indicated that counselor educators lack an understanding of how licensed professional counselors accurately perceive learning disability culture when they do not have a rehabilitation counseling master's degree. The study maintained a qualitative approach that examined licensed professional counselors' experiences and perceptions in their learning acquisition of disability culture based on their master's level education. The researcher interviewed the participants in a semi-structured interview and used open-ended questions to determine licensed professional counselors' learning acquisition of disability and cultural competence. The sample consisted of 11 participants who were licensed professional counselors in Pennsylvania. The data analysis revealed three themes: disability culture education, knowledge of disability, and cultural impact of disability. The findings revealed that participants acquired their knowledge from experience and exposure versus their education programs. Future studies may explore how the inclusion of disability culture into the counseling curriculum will better inform and enhance the counseling profession. Additional studies may look more closely at the counseling specializations and the lack of infusion of education regarding disability culture. Researchers may want to repeat this study with the population and sample persons with disabilities and how they perceive their counselor's competency in meeting their needs.
