An examination of past and current literature revealed explorations into the acculturative experiences, psychological distress, and attitudes toward seeking help of international students from mostly East Asia such as China, Japan, and South Korea. There is minimal research in this area on international students from Southeast Asian countries such as Burma, Thailand, Laos, Cambodia, Vietnam, Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia, the Philippines, Brunei, and the new nation of East Timor (formerly part of Indonesia). Past and current literature have generalized the acculturative experiences, psychological experiences, and attitudes toward seeking professional help of Asian international students. This study aims to explore the acculturative stress, psychological distress, and attitudes toward seeking professional help of the Southeast Asian international graduate students studying in the United States. The hypothesis of this study is that graduate-level international students from Southeast Asia experience acculturative stress, and psychological distress, and demonstrate a negative attitude towards seeking professional help. The study utilized a cross-sectional approach and an online survey was distributed to student and national organizations across the United States. 32 participants met the inclusion criteria of the study and findings indicated that graduate-level international students from Vietnam demonstrated the highest mean score on acculturative stress and psychological distress. Findings also indicated that graduate international students from Malaysia, Thailand, Singapore, Indonesia, and Vietnam have a positive attitude towards seeking professional help with Thai international students endorsing the highest mean score.
