The existence of an exhibition hall is nothing more than to display the works of art, and the design of an exhibition hall is nothing more than to let the audience better understand the works of art. In order to do this well, the design of exhibition space, as a container for artworks, plays an important role. This paper starts with the exhibition space of the exhibition hall, analyzes some new features and existing problems of the exhibition space of the contemporary exhibition hall, and takes space scale, space sequence, exhibition and display methods, and multimedia as the research objects. So that we can have a new understanding of the design of the exhibition space of contemporary exhibition halls.With the development of social civilization and the progress of science and technology, the development direction of exhibition halls is constantly being redefined. The exhibition hall has not only provided a place for professionals to learn through collection, protection, research and cultural display, but also positioned itself as a cultural service organization for the general audience. The exhibition form of the exhibition hall has gradually developed from the previous one-way static graphic display to the multi-directional display combined with multimedia technology, forming a diversified presentation of the exhibition content, which is also one of the important factors to attract the public to enter the exhibition hall. The rapid development of multimedia technology has promoted the renewal of the concept of exhibition and display design of the exhibition hall. On the basis of traditional display techniques such as plates, exhibition cabinets and art exhibition walls, multimedia technology is reasonably integrated to form a new form of artistic expression, enabling the audience to conduct multi-dimensional information interaction, forming a resonance with the exhibition, instead of accepting stiff display information. The reasonable application of multimedia technology can greatly enrich the content information of the exhibition hall and enhance the display service effect. Multimedia technology has also become an indispensable display method in the display design of most exhibition halls.
