This research explores the topics of maintaining cultural values from the children's perspectives and investigating the factors that influence the children's views and personal values, including the cultural values of their families. Four children from three Vietnamese immigrant families in Windsor, Ontario, Canada, were invited to take part in semi-structured in-depth interviews using a narrative inquiry approach. Field notes were also used as a supplementary method for collecting field text. The findings indicate how the children value the Vietnamese cultural values in their families (food, moral values, sense of community) and consider them part of their identity. The study also highlights the critical role of parents and grandparents in home education and being models for the children. Last but not least, the study reveals issues for children and youth from immigrant families, such as mental health problems, pressure from parents, stereotypes, and Asian model minorities. The study is valuable for parents from Vietnamese immigrant families and educators, teachers, and anyone concerned about maintaining cultural values for the immigrant community. There are also essential discussions and implications for pre-service and in-service teacher education from the participants' narratives.
