This thesis explores inclusive postsecondary education for South and Southeast Asian Americans with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD). Research suggests that higher education yields positive benefits for individuals with IDD. However, there is a need for higher education institutions to be inclusive of marginalized students such as South and Southeast Asian Americans with IDD. This qualitative study investigated how South and Southeast Asian American students with IDD, their families, and other key community stakeholders conceptualize an inclusive postsecondary education by interviewing nine South and Southeast Asian Americans. Participants shared their perspectives and opinions on what supports South and Southeast Asian Americans with IDD need to access and succeed in postsecondary education. Results suggest that connecting with families, a supportive campus environment, ableism, and underrepresentation are factors that impact inclusion in higher education.
