The overall thesis project analyzes women's diverse roles and their personal accounts throughout the American Revolution. The essay and the interpretive plan incorporate recent scholarship and new representations of women's stories and voices into the narrative of the American Revolution. The interpretive plan was developed based on the need for more inclusive stories about women and their roles during the American Revolution at the American Revolution Museum, a state-operated living history museum in Yorktown, Virginia. The plan includes a variety of stories about women's struggles and first-hand experiences throughout the American Revolution. The purpose and goal of completing the project and interpretive plan is to emphasize the numerous accounts of women whose stories are not told throughout the history of the American Revolution, specifically middle-class and working-class women whose records are more difficult to locate than others. The thesis essay analyzes the various struggles and experiences that Patriot and Loyalist women faced during the war. The thesis essay argues that while women suffered similar disruptions, regardless of rank, during the American Revolution, one of the key differences is that given the wealth of elite women, they were much less inclined to be camp followers than those of less financial means, but they also had to contend with greater isolation and loss of property.
