Many people consider quitting their jobs due to conflicts between work and family life. This study examined the relationship between work-family conflict and turnover intentions while also considering the moderating influence of the Big Five personality traits on the relationship. This quantitative study utilized the Work-family Conflict Scale, Turnover Intentions Scale (TIS-6), and Mini-IPIP Scale to collect data about employee feelings toward work and family life as well as their individual personality traits. Usable data from 409 participants confirmed work-family conflict has a positive correlation with employee turnover intentions. Results also indicate the neuroticism personality trait significantly moderates the relationship between work-family conflict and turnover intentions. Employees who exhibit neuroticism are more likely to consider quitting their jobs. The findings in this study present important implications for organizations to consider when addressing turnover issues.
