In this paper, I analyze the impact of 21st century media on Russian information warfare regarding the European Union. The paper is divided into seven sections. The first presents an explanation of Soviet and Russian strategic culture. The second outlines the impact of social and internet media on Russian information warfare. The third expands on why a broken EU is beneficial to Russia. The fourth section analyzes Russian strategic culture as applied to Poland and Hungary. The fifth section describes how information warfare against Poland and Hungary affects the European Union as a whole. The seventh section analyzes the current Ukraine conflict and the type of information warfare we see utilized during the conflict.
