With the expansion of the online presence of cultural institutions over the last two decades, the "collections as data" movement has emerged as a community effort that is rethinking policy and practice in relation to digital data, with accessibility and usability as key preoccupations. One such effort is the Public Art Network (PAN) Year in Review Database, which collects data on participating public art projects and makes it available as an online digital database. My own project converted the database into a computer-readable file to expand the possibilities of research that can be undertaken with the extensive information they collect. This thesis, linked to a digital project I have produced on Tableau that analyses a limited data set, discusses the methodology I employed to map the PAN data, the strengths and limitations of the source data and my deployment of it, and how it can be utilized by other researchers.
