According to Weir (2013), the environment in which an educator works has a significant impact on job satisfaction and the ability to do the job well. The same belief would apply to the learning environment. If a learning environment is chaotic and filled with disruptions, then learning is absent. Qualitative research will show that poverty is the root cause of these disruptions occurring in the learning environment. The research will show that poverty as a phenomenon causes chaos in a student's home environment, which in turn, is transferred to the learning environment in the form of disruptive behaviors. These disruptive environments create large amounts of stress on teachers. Teachers working in these environments may reconsider remaining in the teaching profession. Teachers who teach students from low socioeconomic status are more likely to experience hostile school climates. Disruptive behaviors make it difficult for teachers to be effective. Teachers who continuously experience disruptive behavior are forced to make choices. The result could lead to a lack of teaching effort altogether.
