The unprecedented COVID-19 pandemic has severely impacted urban mobility, with significant decreases in usage of traditional public transit systems. Users' motivations and usage patterns of transportation systems have changed and alternative modes of transport, such as bike sharing systems, have provided an active and sustainable mode of transport during this disruptive time. In this thesis we exam the impact of COVID-19 on New York City's CitiBike and Boston's BlueBikes bike share systems through a policy and spatial analysis. Although New York City (NYC) and Boston's bike share systems have improved the resiliency of the overall transportation system, the results show discrepancies in both, CitiBike and BlueBikes, policy goals and the system's actual implementation.
