This study explores how the education of bilingual (Spanish/English) children is impacted by academic and developmental assessments. There is a limited amount of research that considers bilingual (Spanish/English) children's experiences and understanding the impact of the academic and developmental evaluation and the process. The participants of this study included five parents of bilingual (Spanish/English) children that went through the academic and development assessment for Special Education services at public schools in the Bay Area, when their children were between 3-5 years old. And ten professionals that participate regularly or have previously participated in the Preschool Assessment team, like School Psychologist, Speech Language Pathologist, and Teachers. All the professionals I recruited had experience working with bilingual (Spanish/English) families. Parents and Professionals completed an online survey where they shared their experiences. The findings showed common themes of the data collected from the participants, including parents' concerns, assessments outcome from parents' perspectives, language support for bilingual families, professionals' point of view working with diverse communities and COVID-19 impact on the assessment process.
