Childhood obesity is an epidemic in the United States (US). It has the potential to cause serious co-morbidities to the patient and even premature mortality. It is recommended that children and adolescents should be involved in at least 1 hour daily of moderate to vigorous physical activity (Moxley et al., 2019). Unfortunately, studies show very few children and adolescents get this much physical activity daily (Moxley et al., 2019). The purpose of this clinical scholarly project (CSP) was to determine if the utilization of jumping-rope exercise program among overweight and obese adolescents (12-17 years) could decrease their body mass index (BMI) significantly. A total of 100 participants were reviewed, and a convenience sample size of 35 participants that consisted of both boys and girls that reside in the urban area of metro-Atlanta with the diagnosis of overweight or obesity were recruited. Methods include enrolling into a jumping rope exercise program for at least 30 minutes/daily, three times a week for six week. It showed a significant reduction in BMI. A clinical practice change was proposed for providers to recommend jumping rope to children/adolescents diagnosed with overweight/obesity to utilize as a form of physical activity. Keywords: Jumping rope, Physical Activity, Adolescents, Overweight, Obesity.
