Until recently, most affordable housing was developed by either local governments or specialized developers, while private companies usually provided housing subsidies at most. However, skyrocketing rent prices in the Bay area damaged employees' welfare and severely affected the tech giant's employability. For this reason, tech companies in Silicon Valley started to experiment with a new model of affordable housing that provides affordable rents to employees and community members by themselves. This model is called company housing and has existed for along time in East Asia, like Japan. This research examines the company housing model's concept feasibility based on the three aspects of affordability, financial profitability, and community sustainability. Based on the analysis, the thesis will also suggest the most appropriate company housing model for each stakeholder. Finally, this research will demonstrate the applicability of the company housing models based on the feasibility studies with three analysis approaches.
