The dissertation explores several issues in the field of labor economics. The first paper investigates underlying reasons for the husband-wife age gap and schooling differences, both of which explain the household division of labor and have implications on the gender wage gap. The second paper examines the short and long-term effects of paternity leave on mothers' labor market outcomes and household division of labor. The third paper studies the impacts of parental migration on left-behind children with respect to cognitive ability, emotional well-being, health, time allocation, misbehavior, and confidence.
