It is generally believed that international students have more difficulty than host nationals in dealing with a wide range of academic and social situations. The common challenges reported by students studying abroad encompassed the themes of language. Learning a new language is difficult for many people, especially students, who study abroad and are dependent on language to find their way around. If asked to identify the most significant influence on language learning, motivation would probably be high on most teachers' and learner's lists. Language teachers constantly use the term 'motivation' when they describe successful or unsuccessful learners. However, there is no doubt that motivation is the most complex and challenging issue faced by language learners, especially in such a digital age. A significant number of recent studies have been done on investigating the effectiveness of computer-assisted language learning environments, and the literature on psychology in language learning is very considerable. Relatively little work has been conducted about the psychological factor within a mobile-based environment. Furthermore, few studies have explicitly focused on international students' perceptions upon their use of mobile devices in motivating their foreign language learning. This dissertation is intended as an investigation of Chinese oversea university students' experience in Germany of using the MALL applications in motivating their foreign language learning, also as identification of the motivational emotions experienced by these students during language learning activities and the sources of these emotions. Different theories of learning motivation and affective learning involvement are taken into account to explain foreign language learning motivation in the mobile environment.

Die gemeinsamen Herausforderungen, von denen die im Ausland studierenden Studenten berichteten, umfassten das Thema Sprache. Das Erlernen einer neuen Sprache ist fur viele Menschen schwierig, insbesondere fur Studenten, die im Ausland studieren und auf die Sprache angewiesen sind, um sich zurechtzufinden. Bei der Frage nach dem bedeutendsten Einfluss auf das Sprachenlernen wurde die Motivation wahrscheinlich ganz oben auf den Listen der meisten Lehrkrafte und Lernenden stehen. Sprachlehrer verwenden standig den Begriff "Motivation", wenn sie erfolgreiche oder nicht erfolgreiche Lernende beschreiben. Es besteht jedoch kein Zweifel, dass Motivation das komplexeste und schwierigste Thema ist, mit dem Sprachlerner konfrontiert sind, insbesondere in einem solchen digitalen Zeitalter. Es wurde eine betrachtliche Anzahl neuerer Studien zur Untersuchung der Wirksamkeit computergestutzter Sprachlernumgebungen durchgefuhrt, und die Literatur zur Psychologie beim Sprachenlernen ist sehr umfangreich. Uber den psychologischen Faktor in einer mobilen Umgebung wurde relativ wenig Arbeit betrieben. Daruber hinaus haben sich nur wenige Studien explizit auf die Wahrnehmungen internationaler Studierender hinsichtlich der Nutzung mobiler Gerate zur Motivation ihres Fremdsprachenlernens konzentriert. Diese Dissertation soll die Erfahrungen chinesischer auslandischer Universitatsstudenten in Deutschland mit der Verwendung der MALL-Anwendungen zur Motivation ihres Fremdsprachenlernens untersuchen sowie die Motivationsemotionen dieser Studenten wahrend der Sprachlernaktivitaten und deren Quellen identifizieren Emotionen. Die Forschung untersuchte, ob und mit welchen Werkzeugen oder Aktivitaten diese chinesischen Studierende wahrnehmen, dass sie ihre Motivation zum Erlernen von Fremdsprachen beeinflussen konnen, einschlieslich Horen, Sprechen, Lesen, Schreiben und Vokabellernen in informellen Umgebungen. Die Grunde fur die Motivation des Sprachgebrauchs durch mobile Gerate und die Emotionen, die die Lernenden erlebt haben, werden auch wahrend der Lernaktivitaten untersucht.
