Many scholars and authors discuss the phenomenon of life purpose, but the construct of life purpose can be a confusing term and misunderstood meaning making process. In the present dissertation study, I explore the phenomenon of life purpose and meaning with individuals who have terminal diagnoses. The findings of the study are represented as an ethnodrama to help readers experience and more deeply consider this phenomenon. Finding how death awareness relates to life purpose may add insights into how death can be an important consideration in life purpose conceptualization, development, and research. The present dissertation may help those near death and those who are not, according to their knowledge, near death. It may inform how counselor educators prepare counselors to work with individuals with terminal diagnoses. Additionally, it may encourage counselors and medical providers to holistically support individuals with terminal diagnoses by exploring areas of experience related to purpose, meaning, and spirituality. The phenomenon under consideration always lies in life purpose as a lived, explored, nearly understood, evolving, and becoming experience.
