Quality physical education programs have a positive impact on all students. Knowing the beliefs and attitudes of physical educators is especially important to the success of students with disabilities (SWDs) because attitudes and beliefs can affect the quality and effectiveness of instruction. The problem, however, is that physical education teachers report having challenges in teaching SWDs in the physical education classroom due to a variety of factors. The purpose of this quantitative survey design study was to use the PEATID III (Physical Educators' Attitudes Toward Individuals with Disabilities III) instrument to measure the beliefs and attitudes of general elementary, middle, and high school physical educators about teaching SWDs in a physical education setting and compare mean differences between groups. Ajzen's theory of planned behavior served as the study's framework. Recruited for this study were 84 regular physical education teachers employed in various school districts across Pennsylvania. A one-way analysis of variance (ANOVA) was conducted to compare mean differences among four physical education teacher groups. The results of the one-way ANOVA was not statistically significant, F(3, 59) = 1.24, p = .302, ηp2 = .06. The moderate effect size was most likely due to random fluctuation due to the small sample size. The null hypothesis for this study was accepted. Recommendations for future research include using the theory of planned behavior to assess factors that affect teachers' attitudes and beliefs toward teaching SWDs, such as gender, age, teaching experience, and SWDs' disabling conditions.
