The aim of this study was to show any possible differences between visual memory abilities on master's level college students majoring in fine arts (FA) and a comparison group that does not major in Fine Arts (NFA). A secondary interest was in the gender of the participant. The researcher's aim was to evaluate the possible role and influence of fine arts training and gender on visual memory of master's level college students. This nonexperimental ex post facto quantitative study used the computerized version of the Benton Visual Retention Test. The dependent variable of total number of correct responses was analyzed using a two-way factorial analysis of variance (ANOVA) procedure. The population was comprised of 21 to 31 years old master's level college students. The services of Amazon's Mechanical Turk were used to find approximately equal numbers of male and female participants, divided into roughly equal numbers of fine arts majors and non-fine arts majors. According to the research results, measures of visual memory were significantly greater in the Fine Arts training group than in the non-fine arts training group. The independent variable of Gender alone, as well as the interaction of Gender with Specialization, did not demonstrate significant statistical results. It is noted that the study did not demonstrate any causal connections, only a significant difference between the means of the two groups for Specialization. Theoretical and pragmatic aspects of the results were discussed, along with suggestions for future research.
