Grit has emerged as a topic of scholarly discourse, particularly as it applies to education. Studies of grit have found that it correlates with achievement across a variety of domains. Current research has indicated that grit may be valuable for teachers to understand in their work with students. This quantitative study sought to explore if, or to what extent, there were correlations among grit, online learner readiness, and timeliness of completion in an online graduate-level educational program in a small, specialized graduate-level psychology program. The purpose of this quantitative, correlational study was to examine if, or to what extent, there were correlations among grit, online learner readiness, and timeliness of completion of an online graduate-level educational program in a small, specialized graduate-level psychology program. This study used a convenience sample of 120 graduate-level students who completed their psychology degrees online in a small, specialized graduate-level psychology program. Participants completed a SurveyMonkey survey that utilized the Grit-S Scale (Duckworth & Quinn, 2009), two domains of the Online Learner Readiness Scale (Hung, Chou, Chen, & Own, 2010), and selected the number of months that it took to complete their online degree from a dropdown menu. This study showed no correlation between grit and timeliness of degree completion, nor was there a correlation between online learner readiness and degree completion.
