We present a retrospective study including subjects older than 18-year-old and admitted to the medical ICUs at a tertiary care hospital in NYC with COVID-19-associated ARDS. The study included patients admitted between March 2020 and June 2020. The objectives were to describe ventilator mechanics in patients admitted to ICU with a COVID-19-associated ARDS, uncover differences between survivors and non-survivors, describe the demographic characteristics of these two groups, and determine the mortality rate during our study period. Our study included 409 participants. The majority were male (62.1%), non-Hispanic (48.4%),and listed their race as others (46.0%). The mean age was 64 (55-72) years old and the mean BMI was 29.2 (25.6-34.3) kg/cm2. Older age, higher plateau pressure, higher SOFA score, and the use of Epoprostenol as monotherapy, were all associated with a significant increased risk of death. Prone ventilation, < 6mL/kg was not associated with significant outcome differences.
