The purpose of this study was to determine if an increase in percentage of freshman football player eligibility would occur with players being provided an in season academic and behavioral support program. This study was performed with a smaller sample size than what was found by the researcher's review of the literature. Data results produced showed a 5% decrease in the amount of players eligible by seasons end when comparing the baseline to the intervention season. A small sample size is listed by the researcher as a limitation. The outcomes of this study including the surveying of players and coaches illustrates and a review of the literature indicate that student athletes benefit both behaviorally and academically from planned in season supports.
