Support from school administrators for school social workers can strengthen their professional relationship, leading to an environment of mutuality, in which the whole team can collaborate more efficiently and provide optimal support for students through improved treatment planning, intervention fidelity, and team decision making. The degree to which students receive the needed assistance often depends greatly upon an amicable relationship between those providing students' services. Therefore, it is important that school social workers are supported by school administrators in order to provide the greatest level of support to students and to school personnel. Examining school social worker's perception and experiences of the support they receive from their administrators is a foundational step towards this end. Therefore this study addresses school social workers' perceptions of the support received from their administrators, as well as how school social worker's own perception of their roles may differ from their understanding of what school administrators perceive their roles to be, and the potential ways in which school administrators may better support school social workers.
