My thesis focuses on the history of feminism in China. What factors have influenced Chinese society?''. Response to feminism, what are the differences between Western and Chinese feminism? Chinese women "woke up" and began to fight for their rights after 1840 when China began to suffer from colonialism. Due to the collision of traditional and new ideas, the feudal society and the corruption of the government, the initial struggle of Chinese women was not systematic. Until the mid-19th century, feminism from Western countries affected women all over the world. In the United States, there was the USA Feminist Movement, which injected new blood into the Chinese society. Today, Chinese women have more opportunities to be exposed to global ideas, from which they may gain more confidence. However, feminism in China faces a huge challenge. As we all know, China has a large population and a vast area, so the government cannot manage ideological differences throughout the whole country. And the shadow of an ancient "patriarchal society" still affects Chinese society. Meanwhile, Chinese women have their own conflicting ideas. Moreover, there are also many "distortions'' and "exploitation" of feminism in China, which leads to a misunderstanding of the movement. These conflicts between ancient and modern ideas can be reflected in many works of art and social events. My research combined these facts and analysis as a mirror to reflect the history of Chinese feminism.
