Quaint Christian College (a pseudonym) is a Bible college in the United States that is accredited by the Association of Biblical Higher Education (ABHE). Over the last decade the college has experienced a number of transitions in the positions of the president, academic dean, and registrar as well as faculty members. This instability has resulted in a team of faculty members who, for the most part, have little experience or education in teaching and lack a solid understanding of the college's overall curriculum, for the college prioritizes commitment to Jesus Christ and academic and professional qualifications in the field over training or experience in teaching. Therefore, the purpose of this study was to improve the competency of the faculty in terms of learner-centered teaching. Participants first worked together to create student learning outcomes (SLOs) as part of a schoolwide curriculum map demonstrating alignment of content and learning levels. Participants then engaged in four online lessons where they refined those SLOs, aligned assessment and content of their courses on their syllabi to those SLOs, and then created two lesson plans according to templates based upon the proven curriculum design model of Understanding by Design (UbD) that Wiggins and McTighe (2005) developed. The research culminated in participants presenting their learning to non-participating xii faculty members. Results showed that this practical training effectively corrected the curriculum holes and overlap while also shifting the teachers' approach to one that is learner-centered as evidenced by alignment in their syllabi and lesson plans. This research can be used to train faculty members at QCC or any other ABHE colleges that may have prioritized religious commitment and expertise in the field of study over competency in teaching.
