Introduction -- South Asian Women in Diplomacy -- South Asian Women and the Gender Issues in International Relations -- Feminist Footprints in Pakistan's Foreign Policy -- South Asia's Women Leaders: Imprint on International Relations -- Women and IR in Nepal -- Mapping South Asian Women in International Relations: Numbers and Nuances -- National Security In India's Foreign Policy: A Feminist Reading on Developments From 2004 To 2020 -- Theorising International Relations From South Asia: A Feminist Perspective -- Mainstreaming Feminist International Relations: An Analysis of The Works of IR Theorists in South Asia -- An Analytical Study of A Woman Diplomat In South Asia -- Feminist IR and the Unfinished project of Modernity: Beyond the Politics of Borders in South Asia -- Women Participation In Anti-Nuclear Movements: The Case of Kudankulam Nuclear Power Project -- Anti Caste Movement and Dalit Women's Voices from South Asia -- Women in Indian Diaspora : Resistance and Voices -- The Other Movement: Women's rights activism and advocacy in Kashmir valley -- Underrepresentation of Women in Conflict Resolution: A case of South Asia -- Populism And Gender: Critical Perspectives on "Everyday" In South Asia -- Amplifying women voices in international relations -- A Case For Feminist Foreign Policy in South Asia -- Sex-workers Defying Patriarchy and Challenging State Reform and Rehabilitation Projects in India: Voices from the Margins -- Women in Contemporary Afghanistan -- Muslim Women's Voices in the Debates on Personal Law in India and Bangladesh -- Gender-Based Affirmative Action in South Asia: An Outline of Women's Representation in Politics -- Women Diplomacy and Foreign Policy of Afghanistan.
This book presents South Asian women's voices which have been marginalised in the conceptualization of international relations in the region. It highlights critical issues of importance for women which are often neglected in traditional International Relations studies. Embracing Feminist epistemology and 'situated knowledge', the book re-imagines the theory and practice of International Relations in South Asia, placing women's experiences at the centre. Refusing the temptation to typecast women, the book showcases the varied reflections of South Asian women in international relations with contributions from an eclectic set of authors from different nationalities. In doing so, the book expands the ontological and epistemological horizons of International Relations by including issues like caste, conflict, and social movements. While some of these are uniquely South Asian, all of them show how the field of IR in general can be enriched by being more inclusive. This book will be of interest to researchers and graduate students, as it provides a fresh re-conceptualization of International Relations from gender as well as global south perspective. Dr. Abhiruchi Ojha is a Faculty at Central University of Kashmir and a Visiting Fellow at Nepal Institute for International Cooperation and Engagement (NIICE) She has previously taught in Lady Shri Ram College for Women (University of Delhi), Nelson Mandela Centre for Peace and Conflict Resolution (Jamia Millia Islamia), and Ambedkar University Delhi. She has been part of several research projects, including one on Dalit women and Indian politics for International Development Research Centre (IDRC), Canada and Indian Institute of Dalit Studies (IIDS) She recently finished a project for National Commission for Women (NCW-India) on Domestic Violence in Kashmir. She holds a PhD from Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) and her publications have explored the linkages of gender, politics, and identity. She is presently working on examining the intersection of gender and technology, with a special focus on Artificial Intelligence. Dr. Pramod Jaiswal is Faculty at Tribhuvan University and a Research Director at Nepal Institute for International Cooperation and Engagement (NIICE), Kathmandu. He is Visiting Fellow at Sandia National Laboratories, Cooperative Monitoring Center, Albuquerque, New Mexico, US; Senior Fellow at the Institute of Peace and Conflict Studies, New Delhi and Researcher at South Asian Studies, Institute of Asian Studies, Chulalongkorn University, Bangkok. He holds a PhD from School of International Studies, Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi and is in the Editorial Board of several journals.
