Due to the COVID-19 pandemic quarantine organizations were required to make rapid changes that impacted the velocity and trajectory of a virtual workplace. Implications for the traditional workforce, employees, teams, and corporations have been dramatic. The challenges and opportunities that may affect future norms of remote work are explored in this paper. The review of relevant literature focuses on virtual work environments, management of virtual teams, and remote work strategies. A solution is presented that consists of recommended approaches to better develop virtual leadership, virtual team cohesiveness, and habits to effectively communicate among remote teams. The central consideration supports organization-wide remote work governance, guidelines, and policies. Discussion topics concentrate on the implementation, the mitigation of resistance, and the application of metrics to learn from planned/unplanned change events. The approach recommended is an adaptive learning cycle that aims to continually improve remote work strategies. The effects of COVID-19 for organizations are synthesized into insights for future research that ideally will stimulate concepts and solutions for the ever-evolving remote workforce."The Only Constant in Life Is Change."- Heraclitus.
