While previous studies have addressed the experiences of Christian educators serving in private schools, there is a gap in the literature around what Christian educators experience in public schools. For the current study, a phenomenological methodology was utilized to determine themes that would illuminate the experiences of 10 Christian educators working in Kentucky's public schools. The participants were all members of Christian Educators Association International. Phone interviews resulted in valuable data on the participants' experiences and perspectives related to how they have been able to fulfill their unique, God-given callings to serve in America's public schools. Participants addressed opportunities and challenges they faced, along with recommendations for how to prepare future Christian educators for service in the public schools. The themes that emerged from the interviews were intended to serve as a guide to Christian institutions and Christian educators for how to prepare Christians to fulfill their personal callings to serve in public education. Recommendations for future research include (a) conducting a more generalizable, national investigation of Christian educators' experiences in public schools; (b) exploring the blessings reported by Christian educators serving in the public schools; (c) analyzing the impact of Christian nonprofit organizations that serve Christians in the public schools; (d) investigating the effects of the critical theories on the Christians serving in the public schools; and (e) evaluating if and how Christian churches and universities are preparing and supporting Christian educators called to serve in the public schools.
