Childhood obesity is causing a broad range of health problems that previously were not seen until adulthood. Obesity epidemic is a major threat for the health of our nation as well as our financial sustainability of the healthcare service. Effective prevention strategies aimed at tackling obesity and associated risk factors may yield a substantial decrease in healthcare services (Cecchini & Sassi, 2015). This action research study utilized a qualitative design with 13 open-ended interview questions and participants made up of CHO directors/administrators. Thirteen open-ended interview questions were designed to answer the research question, "How are hospitals utilizing their Childhood Obesity Programs?" This action research was conducted by interviewing seven CHO program administrators/directors at hospitals in the United States. The 13 interview questions were asked of the respondents to understand how hospitals were implementing their CHO program, how hospital administrators determine the success of the program, the specific resources utilized in implementing the program, the specific measurements of implementing the program, and the challenges of implementing the program. The results of this study generated themes such as the implementation of the childhood obesity program, which underlined a multidisciplinary or team approach to the treatment of childhood obesity, how the administrator/director determined the success of the program, the challenges of the program, and funding for the program. The qualitative action research utilized five stakeholders to make recommendations based on the results of the research. The stakeholders recommended evidence-based research to implement the CHO program. Future research can include pediatric offices, CHO community programs, and understanding the challenges that parents encounter.
