Background: Instrument-assisted soft tissue mobilization is a skilled myofascial intervention that includes handheld tools, intended to be an extension of the clinician's hand. Current research lacks conclusive data supportive the efficacy of instrument-assisted soft tissue mobilization on power. The purpose of this meta-analysis is to determine whether there is a difference in lower extremity power production between individuals who received instrument-assisted soft tissue mobilization and self-myofascial release. Methods: This meta-analysis was conducted following the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) guidelines. The databases used were Electronic Databases: Discover, Academic Search Complete (EBSCO), Science Direct Elsevier, PubMed, Web of Science, and Google Scholar. Statistical analysis was performed using Microsoft Excel software using the random effects model. Results: Four articles were included in this meta-analysis, including 2randomized controlled trials, one randomized crossover design, and one crossover within-subjects design. Quality appraisal was conducted using the Physiotherapy Evidence Database Scale (PEDro) scale, revealing that these articles were of adequate to good quality. Power was measured by sprint and vertical jump outcome measures. Results favored self-myofascial release for sprint performance with a medium effect size of 0.45. Results again favored self-myofascial release for vertical jump performance with a medium effect size of 0.35.
