Positive psychology techniques may improve the subjective quality of life and have positive mental health consequences for older adults. By the year 2050, adults aged 65 or older are anticipated to double from 40.2 million to 88.5 million people within the United States (Short, 2012). To date, numerous studies stress the importance of a focus on older adults' well-being; however, despite the interest given to the promotion of psychological health among older adults, there are no studies examining Quality of Life Therapy and Coaching (Frisch, 2006) to help promote a thriving and positive quality of life among older adults. In the present study, we examined the effectiveness of various positive psychology techniques on 35 adults aged 65 or older. The Quality of Life Inventory was purchased on the Pearson assessments website and can be purchased by clinicians and laypersons alike. The results suggested that using positive psychology techniques effectively increased older adults' subjective quality of life. We also provide implications for training related to advocacy for older adult populations.
