The purpose of this project was to propose the implementation of trauma-informed care in an elementary school using the multi-tiered systems of support (MTSS) model. The project uses therapeutic framework from person-centered therapy, narrative therapy, and solution-focused therapy in order to implement trauma-informed practice. Childhood trauma is prevalent among youth in schools and therefore it is crucial to address and find ways to support the needs of these students. The impact of adverse childhood experiences (ACEs) is discussed and examined through existing research. A review of literature provides evidence for the use of person-centered therapy, narrative therapy, and solution-focused therapy as a means to provide effective trauma-informed care. The goal of the proposed project is to help all students feel safer at school, increase student self-esteem, and increase student academic performance.
