Massive Multiplayer Online Role-Playing Games (MMORPGs) lets players live out their fantasies through their online avatars. The system that is used to distribute rewards to players is called the loot system. The aim of this study is to correlate player type to features of loot systems and define a framework that can help future designers. By focusing on the foundation of the game i.e the design of the activities, the rewards, and how these rewards are given to players and incorporate features such as randomness, misfortune mitigation, luck, etc. that increase satisfaction for the type of player they are designing the game for. This study used the player type defined by Quantic Foundry to analyze the player types for the 6 participants and found preliminary evidence that suggests that further research could be productive.
