What is Theft? It seems to be an existence so close to our life yet so far. A subtle but rather harmonious mutualistic connection between us, theft, society and the inner sense of guilt revealed after the research. And the relationship between humans and stealing seems to be inseparable, that this activity is invented by our natural instinct whilst it is posing profound influence on us as well. Even moving to the field of design, it surprisingly possesses a complicated and controversial relationship with theft. Design in all forms has been put into adaptation to serve for or fight against theft in various ways from the past to present, and this trend will continue to evolve in the foreseeable future. The future practice of design in the broadest sense of theft is still to prevent stealing and broadcast the ownership, but could be of a more flexible and innovative form. There may also be an opportunity for designers to interpret the concept of "theft" and bring it into the creative process by redefining "theft" as an alternative form of "inspiration".
