The purpose of this study was to (a) develop standards that provide a framework and guidelines for Myanmar social workers, social work students, educators, and professional associations, and (b) to determine the self-efficacy of Myanmar social workers on professional standards by providing online training. The developed standards embody a practice-based and culturally sensitive understanding of the social work profession. Social workers from Ministry of Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement (MSWRR), Ministry of Health and Sports (MoHS), and executive members of Myanmar Professional Social Work Association (MPSWA) participated in the follow-up training and study. Data was collected through semi-structured interviews via video conferencing. Among the social workers' responses, the following themes emerged: increased understanding of the roles and responsibilities of a social worker, increased understanding and knowledge of social work, limited prior knowledge and understanding of environmental justice and social work, understanding the importance of essential values in social work, the importance of professionalism, and adoption of professional standards/professional development. The findings presented may contribute to the research and development of social work education, professional development, and officialization of the social work profession in Myanmar.
