Access to theatre has been limited for individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) due to concerns about disrupting others (Hadley, 2015). The purpose of this mixed methods study was to investigate the experiences of parents/ caregivers of children with Autism Spectrum Disorder at a sensory friendly theatre performance. The population for the study was family members of children with ASD who attended a sensory friendly theatre performance. The qualitative portion of the study was a phenomenological study. The quantitative portion of the study was a cross-sectional case study design. Results indicated that the accommodations that were provided were utilized by the children who attended the performance. While meeting the needs of individuals with ASD, sensory friendly theatre also addresses issues of equity and access to theatre.
