Lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer (LGBTQ) Latina/o/x people experience high levels of social rejection and marginalization within their own Latino communities due to stigma associated with non-conformity to rigid expectations regarding gender roles, relationships, and marriage that are typical in traditional Latino cultures. There is a need for psychological interventions to help mitigate the impact of minority stress and psychological trauma on LGBTQ people, particularly those who experience multiple levels of oppression, such as LGBTQ Latina/o/x individuals. These interventions must address the multi-faceted stresses experienced by the complex intersectionality of LGBTQ Latina/o/x cli-entsMindfulness-based interventions have been found to be effective in helping trauma survi-vors improve coping and functioning regarding social rejection and marginalization. Mindfulness-based interventions have been found to lead to increased resilience and fewer negative behavioral outcomes such as substance abuse and unsafe sexual practices.
