The restoration of anything broken begins at the source of the problem and works outward until resolutions are achieved. Issues that revolve around communication between faculty, administrators, students, and staff in higher education are no different and play a vital role in the success or healing process of the learning institution. Research has shown that the tumultuous relationship that exists between the parties has been well chronicled for decades. To deliver effective communication, each member of the learning community must make a connection with each other that will promote a positive culture and climate beyond the campus and extends into the community. This dissertation in practice considers the role of effective communication skills in the faculty-administrator, student, and staff relationship. Specifically, the project aimed to find out whether taking the time to learn about individual communication styles and personality traits could enhance the professional relationship and interactions that exists between faculty, administrators, students, and staff at a small college in the southern region of the United States.
