The human papillomavirus (HPV) is a significant health concern for women in the United States. Despite the evidence related to this health concern, and the effectiveness of the current vaccination, the current rate of immunization for females in Georgia is 53.7%. The purpose of this quantitative, quasi-experimental project was to determine if the implementation of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG) HPV vaccination tool kit impacted the HPV vaccination rates when compared to current practice among known 28 (n=28) non-HPV infected women ages 18-45 in a primary care clinic in Georgia. The theoretical framework used in the project was the Health Behavior Model (HBM), which applied to an individual's attitudes, beliefs, and perceived barriers. A paired sample t-test was conducted to determine the participants' (n=28) knowledge levels regarding the barriers, attitudes, and beliefs of the HPV vaccine. Statistical significance was found (t (27) = 5.06, p=.000) related to the participants' knowledge levels about the barriers, attitudes, and beliefs of the HPV vaccine. Statistical significance was also achieved in the uptake of the HPV vaccine (t (27) = 5.856, p= .000). The vaccination rates for females exposed to this intervention was 58%, which is above the state rates in the previous year. The implications of the project impacted the clinic through the sustained use of the practice change at the site. Educational opportunities will continue and vaccine rates monitored. It is recommended that research continues to focus on the best practices and focuses on pre-teen and adolescent males using strategies to attract them to improve the uptake of the vaccine.
