The purpose of this Master's project was to propose a group for at-risk minority students in a public school setting who are chronically absent and demonstrate problem behaviors. A review of the literature acknowledged that adolescent students at-risk of dropping out of school can benefit from solution-focused brief therapy. The proposed school-based SFBT group intervention highlights strengths of adolescent students, focuses on solutions, and teaches techniques to assist students. The group provides minority adolescent students with skills to create change in their behaviors and actions, and to give and receive social support from peers and the group leader.
