This study examines how collective identity influences environmental behaviors of college students. Theoretically this study uses frame analysis to understand how collective identity is constructed in ways that foster pro-environmental behaviors at the individual level. Using snow-ball sampling, twenty-one semi-structured interviews were conducted with students involved in five student organizations at New Mexico State University. Findings indicate the frames fostering students' pro-environmental behavior include the following: engaging with local community members to carry out green initiatives, participating in campus-based environmental initiatives, participating in academic venues, and coming together for social gatherings. It is through these activities and frames that collective identity was created and influenced individuals' pro-environmental behaviors.
