The purpose of this quantitative research study was to focus on student enrollment in courses taught in the areas of construction, manufacturing, and transportation in Indiana high schools, regional vocational centers, and community colleges. High school data were taken from the 2008-2009 to the 2017-2018 school year and every year between. Community college data were taken from the 2010-2011 to the 2017-2018 school year and every year between. This study examined relationships between the changes in high school student enrollment, community college enrollment, and community college trade program enrollment to help fill needed job vacancies in the manufacturing, construction, and transportation sector. This study researched the effects Indiana Career and Technical Education course consolidation have had on high school enrollment, community college enrollment, and community college trade program enrollment after high school. Three sets of independent sample t tests were conducted to assess if differences existed in high school enrollment, community college enrollment, and community college trade program enrollment by Career and Technical Education consolidation. The dependent variables were high school enrollment, community college enrollment, and community college trade major enrollment. The independent variable was pre- and post-Career and Technical Education consolidation. Independent samples t tests for sampled CTE districts showed significant increases in overall enrollment in statewide district area CTE courses since 2013. Some individual locations were not significant but had medium to large effects sizes which implied considerable growth. Very few districts in the sample had small increases or decreases in enrollment. Independent t tests for Ivy Tech Community College did not show a significant effect statewide for trade and non-trade majors, meaning that the significant increases in high school enrollment did not correlate to significant increases in Ivy Tech enrollment. Thus, only two locations had a sizable increase, while most saw a decrease in enrollment. Increases in high school CTE enrollment did not appear to carry over to community college enrollments.
