The experience among adjunct faculty counselors in California community colleges varies, however, it is known that many adjunct faculty counselors feel disenfranchised, over worked, under paid and not respected. The purpose of this study is to examine the relationship between Transformational leadership, Job satisfaction and work-life balance. The findings can help administrators in community colleges in California to consider the impact of transformational leadership on job satisfaction and work-life balance for adjunct faculty counselors to potentially create ways to encourage and support more job satisfaction and work-life balance among adjunct faculty counselors. The concepts in this study include how Transformational leadership impacts work-life balance, how work-life balance impacts job satisfaction, how transformational leadership style impacts job satisfaction and how work-life balance moderates the impact of transformational leadership on job satisfaction, among adjunct faculty counselors. The findings indicate there is a strong, positive relationship between all variables. The study found that transformational leadership (IV) has an impact on job satisfaction (DV) and work-life balance (MV). Furthermore, there is a moderating effect of work-life balance on the relationship between transformational leadership and job satisfaction after controlling for covariates of age, race/ethnicity, and gender. Transformational leaders have the ability to change the uneven conditions within their departments, and adjunct faculty/counselor job satisfaction and work-life balance are direct correlations to transformational leadership.
