This dissertation contains three distinct papers examining food and beverage markets. The first paper investigates the impacts of US Department of Agriculture's crop condition reports on winter wheat prices at the national level and for a local market. The second paper estimates a hedonic pricing model for Pacific Northwest soft white winter wheat (SWW), examining specifically the impact of end-use quality characteristics of SWW on the average annual Portland export price of SWW.The third paper employs a discrete choice experiment to estimate the willingness to pay of consumers for craft beer in either cans or bottles, controlling for beer style at broad categorical levels.
