The primary purpose of this study is to predict the future trends and possibilities of the reality television genre, using historical data and input from professionals in that field. This study focused on the major events in television history that have collectively made modern reality TV as we know it today. Those events were analyzed and used to help identify assumptions about the genre in the current and future landscape. Data were collected in the form of statements that were retrieved from interviewing reality TV professionals in New York City. All interviews were recorded with informed consent and the interviewees' names and companies were omitted for the purpose of anonymity. Based on the results of this study, it can be concluded that the international translation of reality TV content overseas is greatly affected by the culture within the recipient country and the familiarity of the culture represented in the program. It can also be concluded that international formats have the potential to take over the market where countries' original content currently rules. This data also expresses that there is no set formula for the success of a given reality TV program, but there are several factors that may increase the likelihood of releasing a hit show.
