Like many government agencies, Cook County has been faced with fiscal challenges. One of the challenges faced by the county organization is inefficiency of the clerical workers. The problem investigated in this study was that low productivity level of clerical county workers results in low production revenue falling short of the budget amount projected. The purpose of this quantitative multivariate regression was to explore the factors which contribute to low productivity among clerical workers in county administration of Chicago, Illinois State. The variables identified were educational level, years of service, salary range, and job training skills of clerical workers in county organization. Quantitative research method design with multivariate regression analysis was used to explore those factors that influence worker productivity. The population in this study included the sheriffs, treasurers, deed recorders, circuit court of Cook County, and state attorney workers of the Cook County organization. From this population of employees, the sample size resulted in 292 clerical workers. The sample size of 292 was calculated at 95% confidence level and p = 0.5 which is statistically reasonable based on the Cronbach's alpha model. The productivity and training survey instruments along with demographic questionnaire were used to collect data for this study. A multiple regression (MR) coefficient was used to analyze the factors influencing worker productivity. Findings in the study indicated that job training variable significantly contributed to worker productivity whereas educational levels, years of service, and salaries were not significant predictors of worker productivity. Statistically significant results for training offered resulted in t = 204 (69.9%). The result of the study indicated that workers are more interested in having job training skills. Job skill training improves work and increases efficiency in the workplace.
